Its a lovely hotel, in nice well tended to grounds, that just happen to be in the rolling hilly landscape, that is Northen Ireland. An amazing hotel with such pleasant and helpful staff. It was like being at home but away at the same time! Every member of staff was so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.Comfortable, clean and spacious room. Bar food was delicious especially the seafood grill and steak platter!
Not really a dislike but was just a continental breakfast - missed the cooked breakfast but was till nice and enough!

So me and my friend really enjoyed our selfs we were just up for a girlie relaxing night away with no children it was really quite food was absolutely gorgeous the staff was soo friendly always had a smile on their face . I don’t know where to begin!! Booked a function room for my 50th birthday and decided we’d stay the night as well despite living only a few miles away as I had family and friends also staying. I’d forgotten how good this little gem of a pl... lace is!! We checked in about four and had an early dinner which was absolutely delicious and great value. It has always been renowned for its food and was a regular Sunday haunt in my youth so I was well pleased that It hasn’t changed in that respect. The grill bar got very busy yet the service remained excellent. Staff were very attentive and accommodating. We retired to our spacious room for a few hours until party time. We had a great party. The buffet was basic but delicious and was better than fancier and more expensive hotels I’ve been in. The sausage rolls especially got the thumbs up from me. The DJ was organised by the hotel and he read the crowd well, keeping everyone on the dance floor all night and Playing a few of my favourite tunes. I wish I was younger and fitter!! At the end of the night the staff were great at gently corralling us into the residents bar/outside for taxis. Finally got to bed about three and had a good nights sleep followed by a hearty fry for breakfast. Again the staff were lovely and gentle with us and our raging hangovers. I would definitely use the Ballymac again for a function and I know my party guests had a ball. There are a few who will be returning for the dining experience including ourselves. We stayed here after late flight into Belfast international airport. Although a 15 min drive from airport it was easy to find and a very late check-in went smoothly. Quiet and peaceful and lovely grounds.The comfy beds and large bath towels! The friendly staff

Staff were very welcoming, and the service was fantastic. The evening meals were lovely and great quality. The room was clean and tidy.The breakfast was nice but I feel with how much variety they had in the evening the cooked breakfast menu selection could be enhanced.

I discovered the Ballymac on my visits to the North on Business. I was recommended the Ballymac by one of my customers, he informed me that everyone knew that the food was excellent in the Ballymac and it was very busy. I thought I must try... y it, he wasn’t wrong. The food, staff, rooms, breakfast are all worth coming back for. It’s location on first glance, appeared awkward but having worked at different companies around the north, the Ballymac is very central to all these areas. It wouldn’t be fair review if there wasn’t a negative aspect and in this case it would be my phone signal. However, the Ballymac’s wifi allows a great solution to this issue enabling me to make contact with my family throughout my stay. I found the staff to be very welcoming. Upon discovering that there was no vending machine or similar at the hotel, I asked at the bar if they might have chocolate and I was given some of their own wrapped chocolate, which I felt was very ... thoughtful. Room service was excellent as was breakfast. My room looked a little worn, but the bed was clean and the ensuite looked modern and shiny. As a wedding facility the hotel was excellent. Location to airport was fantastic. I did note that there is a sign in the hotel room stating that guests should not drink their own (not purchased in hotel) alcohol. I think this is a fair request, however I didn't notice it on the website at the point of booking or on my confirmation email. So if there is notification there then this should be made clearer as it could affect a guest's decision on whether they would stay or not. As it was, I hadn't brought my own alcohol anyway. I would say that the two main things the hotel has going for it are the staff and the food, though some kind of vending machine wouldn't go amiss! more..Was this review helpful? Yes · No

I really loved this hotel. Really friendly and welcoming. Room was large so clean and really comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The ensuite was large and so clean. Lovely soft towels. Shampoo, showergel, soap and shower ca... ap were provided which was an extra bonus for me. We also had breakfast. There was lots of choice. We had the fry which was really tasty fill me for the day. Would definatly recommend this hotel. Its in a really beautiful area too. Will 100% return. more..Everything.

My partner, one year old son and I decided to stay here as it was close to Nuttscorner Raceway. I had phoned in the morning before our arrival to see could we perhaps check in earlier. This was no issue and at the last moment I requested a ... travel cot for my son. Upon arrival there was a few complications on my behalf as the exchange rate hadnt worked in my favour. Yet again the receptionist was so kind and friendly. She explained ways that I could pay and told me where I could go for currency exhange. The room was spacious and we had a wet room and walk in shower. The bed was comfortable and quiet. We went for breakfast the following morning where the restaurant was quiet. The tables were set out so you had enough room instead of sitting on top of each other. I would definitely stay again. more..Quiet. Clean. Helpful.

The food and staff are exceptional we have stayed numerous times and the food and staff are a credit to the ballymac the only problem weve had on all our stays is that the beds for me need changing the duvets are rock hard and we dont get a... as much sleep as wed like apart from that its a top notch spot more..The quality of food especially the steaks and the friendliness and customer service of the staff exceptional

Really enjoyed our time at the Ballymac in. From check in to check out, all the staff were so friendly, helpful and professional. They organised taxis into city centre for us with no issue. Food was fabulous both breakfast and dinner. Rooms were lovely and clean and well equipped. Highly recommend!Friendly staff and delicious food!

Stayed here for 1 night after a flight and wanted to be close to the airport and get a good nights sleep before onward travel for a holiday . Staff were very friendly , breakfast was very nice and freshly cooked , breakfast room very relaxing and as a solo traveller very easy and comfortable. Staff were so friendly and nothing was any trouble. Best night sleep was very quiet at the back of hotel , room 4. Black out blinds and very spacious room and spotless clean . A superb hotel , very clean with larger than normal rooms . Clearly a locals favourite as it was packed every evening. A good menu though I reckon there could have been a bit more choice but what was on the menu was very good . It is a little out of the way and on a busy road but a very well looked after hotel .Cleanliness overall, staff were excellent , food was delicious. A really nice place to stay for the weekend . A couple of minor points below but overall very good
Breakfast . Continental style 7-9, cooked 9 -11. I checked out on a weekday and would have liked a cooked breakfast (admittedly i didn\'t ask if it was possible ) but the cooked breakfast I had on the other days was excellent Shower - water pressure is presumably low as I tried to have a shower in the morning and got about 3 drips out ! Tried later and it was fine

The Ballymac provided the standard of accomodation that I was hoping for and facilities for food and drinks were very good. The Location in the countryside was also good and another choice that I selected it for. The onsite parking was plentiful making coming & going easier. The staff were all friendly and helpful if there were any requests. All in all a nice well run hotel.Quality of Room, good food and friendly staff.
Having the tv and radio on at the same time in the bar.

This is a gem of a place. It\'s officially 3 star but the rooms are 4 star. Much much more than I expected. The management and staff are the perfect mix of professional, mixed with friendly and welcoming. The bar food is top notch with very generous portions. I stayed for 3 nights so got a great feel for it. If you want to be close to Belfast or Lisburn, but don\'t want the noise, hassle and parking problems this hotel is perfectGreat room, nice cosy bar / restaurant, plenty of open space, peaceful setting

"Excellence"
From arrival I was made to feel welcome, friendly helpfull staff in all departments. Room very comfortable plenty of space and a good shower.. Bar and foor high quality and service.Bar and food excellent pleasent surroundings inside and outside. Even when a wedding being held the staff had time for a friendly word. Well Done all.

Booked in for one night (Sat). First time staying at the Ballymac. Had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. We were allocated a ground floor room as my wife has a heart condition which makes stairs and steps a challenge. A birthday party was being celebrated in an area opposite our bedroom window. The noise was very loud as the side door of the party area was open. At around 10.30pm I tried to contact reception from the internal phone, which after several attempts was not answered. I had to use my own phone and rang the hotel, I think the bar answered to phone, and was informed that there was nobody on reception. I asked if the sidedoor to the private function could be closed. I believe this was done as the noise was acceptable. I am however surprised that reception was not manned. If any serious problems had arose I had nobody in reception to help. My wife and I enjoyed the stay at Ballymac and would stay again.The evening meal, the bar and the comfortable room

I always stay at the Ballymac when in Belfast. It’s a ten minute drive to the city, yet a rural peaceful beautiful setting with plenty of parking. The staff are really friendly and it’s kind of like old school in terms of the staff treat you like you matter and are important to them. Not like some places I’ve stayed. I will always stay here when in Belfast. The rooms are excellent too.The blackout blinds in the room. The spacious rooms, the food. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful .

"Great stay"
Lovely quiet room. The staff were all very friendly and helpful . Location was nicely set in countryside but with easy access to airport , city and tourist areas.The service and food served in the bar were very good. The atmosphere felt easy going.
The continental breakfast was very limited. As were the refreshments provided in the room.

We have stayed at the Ballymac on several occasions. Sadly, these have involved funeral and our last stay was the same for our mammy. The staff are accommodating and very pleasant. Stayed at the Ballymac 18th to 21st July 2025, mainly to go see the golf but to do some sightseeing in Belfast too. Only 25 minutes or so from the city and set in the beautiful countryside. Maybe not great for some but for something different and aay from the city it\'s great. Hotel reception were great and very welcoming. Room was spacious, light and clean. Only complaint was from my wife in that there was no light at the make-up mirror. Bathroom was also great and towels changed daily, without our asking. Food in the bar-grill and restaurant were high quality.Large spacious room and bathroom Comfortable bed. Continental self-service breakfast before 0900, full cooked breakfast available after 0900. Food portions in the bar- grill were huge!

Very nice hotel with friendly, helpful staff. A problem in the room on arrival was quickly resolved, thank you. We stayed at The Ballymac Hotel for one night midweek en route to The Open in Portrush. The bar was lively with people having drinks and dining. We had a meal there which was ideal. The room was spacious and clean with everything we needed. We left early so we weren\'t around for the cooked breakfast, but the continental breakfast was plenty.The lively bar and good menu. Staff were helpful and friendly.

We stayed two nights meeting friends who were also in the area. The room was very comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed meals at the restaurant and a few pints at the bar. Breakfast was included and plentiful.Staff was very accommodating and available to attend to the guests. We appreciated their attentiveness. The property was well maintained and charming.
The hotel is in the country and it\'s recommended that you have a car. Ubers were available but not plentiful.

Arriving early to surprise family we were welcomed by a great team. We were shown through to the restaurant to enjoy a delicious Ulster Fry enjoyed with fresh hot coffee. Whilst check -in is not until 3pm the team went out of their way to get us a room by 10:30am...Thank you.All staff are great ambassadors for the hotel, welcoming, demonstrated good hospitality and made us feel important. The hotel was clean, well kept and ideally located to get to Belfast International Airport.

I stayed here with my husband and 5 year old daughter. Slept great, room clean, very quiet & black out blinds were fabulous. Had a meal in restaurant, food was good. Wine nice, good value. From the moment that I arrived until the moment I left, every member of staff couldn’t have been nicer and they all went out of their way to make my stay trouble free. I arrived early morning and they allowed me to check in to my room then. Same when leaving, I was allowed a late checkout in the evening. Outstanding. Really recommend this hotel & restaurant to anyone looking for the perfect place to stay.The staff were friendly and courteous. The bedroom was so clean and roomy. I had wonderful sleep there, very quiet. I ate in the restaurant every night, delicious food. My favourite place to eat even when not staying there.

Lovely spacious room with very comfy bed and a big tv (shower head could do with a fresh up). Evening meal i had a salad that was delicious and had lots of different salads and fruit items on. "Comfortable and friendly hotel"
My colleague and I were working in Lisburn and stayed here for 4 nights. We chose this hotel as we had some big vans and needed a hotel with a big car park. Really pleased that we chose this hotel. It had a really friendly atmosphere and all of the staff were cheerful and nice to us. Big shout out for the the night porter who we ended up chatting to on a few nights - a good guy who works hard. The rooms were very comfortable and clean - much better than we normally get for the price we paid. Oh and the breakfast was very good and the lady who served each morning was really nice as well. we had a medical appointment in Belfast and found the cost of the accommodation there simply ridiculous. On a wider search, we came across the Bally Mac Hotel and honestly, if you have a car and can travel into the city, I would strongly recommend staying here as a 20 min drive is worth the effort. The hotel is a quiet part of the countryside but busy place at night with superb staff and management. The bar food is first rate and by the busy atmosphere of the bar in the evenings, the local community also know how good the hotel is for food. However, due to medical issue I had to book an extra night at the last minute and this didn't phase the staff as they loved a few things around and let me even stay in the same room even on a busy weekend.Staff Bar Food
Timings for cooked breakfast but this is just a minor issue as I'm sure if I had asked, the staff would have gone out of their way to ensure I could have a cooked breakfast before the official start timings.

From the minute we arrived the staff made is feel very welcome. Very friendly and accommodating. We had breakfast and dinner and both were fantastic and big portions. Lovely bar with a good atmosphere. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Outside has lovely maintained gardens in a peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle but belfast city only 15 mins drive away.Everything about the hotel was good.
Maybe get rid of venetian blind in bedroom and get blackout curtains as Room gets very bright early.

Staff really friendly and the last at reception was extremely helpful.Breakfast could maybe be a small bit better. The fry was a small bit limited.

I enjoyed my stay at The Ballymac Hotel overall but was disappointed in the standard of cleaning in the bedroom. Some mornings the tea/coffee tray wasn't cleared at all and sometimes not topped up. Despite asking for a replacement for the toilet brush and holder which was disgusting, it wasn't changed. The food was good but would have liked brown bread as a choice at breakfast and found the fact that a cooked breakfast was only served later in the morning on weekdays inconvenient.Friendly staff, good bar area and ambience.
Lack of attention to detail re cleaning. Having worked within hospitality this would not have been tolerated. Procedures just need tightening up.

"Wonderful Place to stay!"
We had a huge travel day from US and had issues with a flat tire but the staff at Ballymac were so friendly and welcoming it certainly turned things around for us! The food was good and great pints. Me and my husband went to the ballymac for our second wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it! We went early in the day and had lunch and a few drinks before checking into the room, the service was second to none and the food was outstanding! Then when we checked into our room there was a little set up of chocolates from the hotel which I think gave it that personal touch. Into the night we went for our dinner again service was impeccable and the food beautiful. 10/10 can't wait to stay again!Quick, polite service. Food was amazing! Feeling so welcomed
Our room didn't have curtains but did have blinds, if I had to pick something wrong that's all I can think of. Again this didn't bother me too much as we had blinds anyway

Warm welcome at the front desk on check in. Large comfortable room.Great deal on bb and evening meal. Food great and staff busy but attentive and helpfulKingsized bed. Large comfortable clean room Great deal for the two course evening meal which was very enjoyable.
Just a concern that there were children running round the restaurant bumping into tables especially when the waitresses were service hot food. Appreciate the hotel is family friendly but felt this was a safety issue for the children,diners and staff.

The hotel is based in beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside. Staff are all fantastic, so welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Only stayed one night but definitely planning a return. My sat nav got a bit confused on the way so we had a slight detour, not an issue, so I recommend you include the hotel name or number 7b in the address.Staff, so friendly and welcoming. Food in the restaurant was fantastic, evening and morning. Hotel is all on one level, so perfect for our mobility challenged Mum.

Its a lovely hotel, in nice well tended to grounds, that just happen to be in the rolling hilly landscape, that is Northen Ireland. I don’t know where to begin!! Booked a function room for my 50th birthday and decided we’d stay the night as well despite living only a few miles away as I had family and friends also staying. I’d forgotten how good this little gem of a place is!! We checked in about four and had an early dinner which was absolutely delicious and great value. It has always been renowned for its food and was a regular Sunday haunt in my youth so I was well pleased that It hasn’t changed in that respect. The grill bar got very busy yet the service remained excellent. Staff were very attentive and accommodating. We retired to our spacious room for a few hours until party time. We had a great party. The buffet was basic but delicious and was better than fancier and more expensive hotels I’ve been in. The sausage rolls especially got the thumbs up from me. The DJ was organised by the hotel and he read the crowd well, keeping everyone on the dance floor all night and Playing a few of my favourite tunes. I wish I was younger and fitter!! At the end of the night the staff were great at gently corralling us into the residents bar/outside for taxis. Finally got to bed about three and had a good nights sleep followed by a hearty fry for breakfast. Again the staff were lovely and gentle with us and our raging hangovers. I would definitely use the Ballymac again for a function and I know my party guests had a ball. There are a few who will be returning for the dining experience including ourselves. I discovered the Ballymac on my visits to the North on Business. I was recommended the Ballymac by one of my customers, he informed me that everyone knew that the food was excellent in the Ballymac and it was very busy. I thought I must try it, he wasn’t wrong. The food, staff, rooms, breakfast are all worth coming back for. It’s location on first glance, appeared awkward but having worked at different companies around the north, the Ballymac is very central to all these areas. It wouldn’t be fair review if there wasn’t a negative aspect and in this case it would be my phone signal. However, the Ballymac’s wifi allows a great solution to this issue enabling me to make contact with my family throughout my stay. I found the staff to be very welcoming. Upon discovering that there was no vending machine or similar at the hotel, I asked at the bar if they might have chocolate and I was given some of their own wrapped chocolate, which I felt was very thoughtful. Room service was excellent as was breakfast. My room looked a little worn, but the bed was clean and the ensuite looked modern and shiny. As a wedding facility the hotel was excellent. Location to airport was fantastic. I did note that there is a sign in the hotel room stating that guests should not drink their own (not purchased in hotel) alcohol. I think this is a fair request, however I didn't notice it on the website at the point of booking or on my confirmation email. So if there is notification there then this should be made clearer as it could affect a guest's decision on whether they would stay or not. As it was, I hadn't brought my own alcohol anyway. I would say that the two main things the hotel has going for it are the staff and the food, though some kind of vending machine wouldn't go amiss!Was this review helpful? Yes · No

Really nice hotel with excellent professional staff. Clean and comfortable rooms with nice touches like plenty of complimentary toiletries. Family room came complete with correct number of towels for a family... Unlike many other hotels we've stayed in! Rooms in need of a little tlc but otherwise well kept. Breakfast well cooked and helpful staff who aim to please. Would definitely stay again.Dinah on reception was very attentive and professional. Remembered all our names and nothing was too much trouble. A real asset to the hotel.

I really loved this hotel. Really friendly and welcoming. Room was large so clean and really comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The ensuite was large and so clean. Lovely soft towels. Shampoo, showergel, soap and shower cap were provided which was an extra bonus for me. We also had breakfast. There was lots of choice. We had the fry which was really tasty fill me for the day. Would definatly recommend this hotel. Its in a really beautiful area too. Will 100% return.Everything.

My partner, one year old son and I decided to stay here as it was close to Nuttscorner Raceway. I had phoned in the morning before our arrival to see could we perhaps check in earlier. This was no issue and at the last moment I requested a travel cot for my son. Upon arrival there was a few complications on my behalf as the exchange rate hadnt worked in my favour. Yet again the receptionist was so kind and friendly. She explained ways that I could pay and told me where I could go for currency exhange. The room was spacious and we had a wet room and walk in shower. The bed was comfortable and quiet. We went for breakfast the following morning where the restaurant was quiet. The tables were set out so you had enough room instead of sitting on top of each other. I would definitely stay again.Quiet. Clean. Helpful.

The food and staff are exceptional we have stayed numerous times and the food and staff are a credit to the ballymac the only problem weve had on all our stays is that the beds for me need changing the duvets are rock hard and we dont get as much sleep as wed like apart from that its a top notch spotThe quality of food especially the steaks and the friendliness and customer service of the staff exceptional
